Body in white / Exterior

Shape makes the difference

Kontakt Contact

The increasing number of variants in all vehicle classes is closely linked to increased demands on body construction. These requirements relate to stiffness and crash properties as well as functionality and aesthetics. Furthermore, cost-optimized design and potentials in the area of weight reduction are decisive.

The classic, self-supporting body-in-white structures made of steel are still very common in terms of high volumes, costs and production cycles. However, modern structures are increasingly being developed in hybrid and sandwich designs, with the focus on a larger number of vehicle variants and lower volumes per variant. Alternative materials such as aluminum, magnesium and CFRP/GFRP are being used. With regard to the variability of a car body, solutions are also being found in the form of profile-intensive tubular frame concepts. FEV vehicle development finds the right answers regarding the use of materials in harmony with vehicle design and model layout.

Since the start of the B&W company in 1998, we have had great expertise in the field of door and flap structures, including locking systems, door attachments and seals. This is where our roots lie, this is where we set standards. In addition to doors with standard frame guides, frameless doors and sliding door systems, we are also intensively involved with the door concepts of tomorrow, keeping aspects such as pedestrian protection and a high level of closing comfort firmly in mind.

As a holistically positioned development service provider, we assume responsibility for all topics relating to the body structure incl. doors and flaps, including hat definition and concept development. From the development and design of simple assemblies to complex overall assemblies, we accompany our customers through all phases of the development process, including modification design and topics in series support.
